THE ULTIMATE JORDAN | AMMAN | DEAD SEA (Guest Series: 14)

Jordan was the 1st Arab country in Western Asia. I decided to visit because, I was so curious about it and it’s very beautiful. I’m so happy of my choice! Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Israel and Palestine. From the airport, I went straight to Amman the capital of this country. The old Amman is so different from any other cities. I’d describe it as a colorful one, full of friendly people ready to help you, giving advices and also very dynamic.

The 1st stop was Ajloun, the capital town of the Ajloun Govenorate noted for its ruins from the 12th-century. Also it is one of the coolest cities; snow is common during winter so make sure you bring a jacket!

The 2nd stop,You are going to love it if you’re inlove with Italy! Jerash, at the north of Amman it’s famous for the ruins of the walled Greco-Roman settlement of Gerasa. Here you can find Hadrian’s Arch, the Corinthian columns and the huge forum’s oval colonnade. But anyway pictures describe this place better..

How beautiful this music?
Mose’s Springs in the Nebon region. No need of descriptions.
And this is the brazen Serpent Monument.
Check out this view. Isn’t it beautiful?

Now let’s focus on the main protagonist; Petra. Did you know that in 2007 it was elected as one of the New 7 wonders of the world? Petra belongs at UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985 and it has been described as one of the most precious cultural properties of man’s cultural heritage. Petra is also called the Rose city because of the stone color it has.Beside its beauty, I also found so many people, the Bedul Tribe. So many beautiful pure souls I’d say. I was really surprised seeing all of them being so happy about life! All of the children are very smart, they may not wear expensive clothes or shoes but they give you everything they have ! They’re so humble and generous .Mostly had nothing but still offered us a cup of tea(the best tea I ever had)and wanted nothing in exchange, that really touched my heart.

I even remember asking a boy if he would like to leave Petra and go somewhere else but he told me he would feel like a fish out of the water by leaving his country.I’ve never seen someone so in love with his city! This made me think of how some people are so grateful for what they have and that small things makes you happier.

Oh did you know Indiana Jones was filmed here?I know right,Petra is like a movie set and you are the protagonist, that’s how I felt!

Make sure you wear something comfortable, because you have to walk like a lot, not kidding!
Also my advice:try not to pay anyone to bring you seeing the “treasure”. I love adventure and if you love it too have fun with your group exploring and searching it by yourself. Also be very careful,it’s very big and you have to climb, so bring some water and also sunscreen.

As I told you before I love adventure so there’s no fun without WadiRum! What a dream place!Would love to have again a cup of tea in the middle of the desert.

Also trust me is so funny and nice sleeping in a Bedouin camp. You can admire the beautiful stars in the dark, singing with the bedouins and eating their special meals.Okay but what so special about this desert? This place is known for its stunning desert, sandstones mountains, canyons, dunes. Its also called the valley of the Moon.Im sure you’ve heard of movies like Prometheus, The Martian, Lawrence of Arabia. They’ve been filmed here.Have a look!
Trying to climb here wasn’t that easy as I thought.
Last place I’m gonna talk about is the Dead Sea.As many of you know the Dead Sea is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel(another stunning country) and it’s called like that because the water is very dense with a lot of salt and makes everything and everyone float.

Hope you enjoyed this virtual trip to Jordan and hope I convinced you to see it.Also I would like to add that if you’ll ever visit it you’ll feel a better human being, definitely changed in something more positive and with a different story to tell at your family during Christmas’s dinner.

THE JOURNEY | Danielle Paiva (Guest Series: 10)

“A man needs to travel. By his own, not through stories, pictures, books or TV. He needs to travel by himself, with his eyes and feet, to understand what is his. To one day plant his own trees and value them. Knowing the cold to enjoy the heat. And the opposite. Feel the distance and absence of shelter to be well under his own roof. A man needs to travel to places that he does not know to break this arrogance that makes us see the world as we imagine it, and not simply as it is or can be. That makes us teachers and doctors of what we have not seen, when we should be students, and simply go and see.” This text by Amyr Klink has always inspired me. I discovered my passion for travel (exploring places), languages (knowing how to communicate) and photography(recording moments) in 2005, when I did my first exchange program at the age of 17. In July I went with a group of young Brazilians to take a basic English course in Toronto, Canada. This group trip, which was guided, was organized an...
