Travel Spain With Sophie (Guest Series: 19)

Hi there, I'm Sophie. This year has been crazy and travelling hasn't been easy, but luckily I was able to escape the craziness for two weeks in July. I'll be taking you on a trip to Spain in this post.  After our trip to America had been cancelled, we decided to search for something a bit closer to home. We eventually booked an adventurous holiday in Spain and we would be driving through France to get there. We drove about four day sand we visited lots of beautiful cities on the way. Day 1 As we left the big cities for the Pyrenees, we knew we were getting close to our final destination. We drove through the mountains on narrow roads with hair pin turns. Not the best if you get carsick easily, but I survived! We drove through the little village Bourisp and stopped at a small bakery. They had the best snacks for on the road! Later on we drove through the tunnel of Aragnouet-Bielsa. In this tunnel you cross the border of France and Spain. Our final destination was coming ve

Incredible Santorini | Food Experience (Guest Series: 18)

Santorini is a Greek island known for its rolling cliffs studded with beautiful white houses, incredible sunsets and unrivalled views of the Aegean Sea. Santorini is far from being one of the largest islands in Greece and yet, it’s reputation for glowing views of endless blue and white attracts over 2 million tourists annually. I’ve been part of that large number on two separate occasions - in 2012 and 2018 - and already, I cannot wait to return. When planning a trip to Santorini, you want to be really careful to do your research into the area you want to stay in because not all of the island looks like the pictures you’ve seen on the front cover of every travel magazine. In fact, the blue and white houses on tall cliffs stand almost exclusively in Oia only and so, if living within that view is part of your Santorini dream, much of the island’s accommodation won’t be helpful to you. I say this from experience, having stayed in multiple parts of the island. Personally, my stay in Firost

Wonder of Italy | Roman Colosseum (Guest Series: 17)

On my second trip to Italy, As the Wine Tasting, Tower of Pisa and Siena tour came to an end, I found myself lost in the busy streets of Siena with a couple of Euros. My tired 19 year old son, and no translator. We were at a plaza surrounded by happy and loud Italians celebrating a night out, but no one could help. We walked for miles in the direction where we thought the tour bus would be and found no one there to assist, so we stopped at the first open cafe. We found and ask for help. Of course, they didn’t understand us, we were in the middle of Italy, no longer in the tourist areas of the city. I tried using the little Italian I knew but it was useless, so my son pulled out is phone, connected to the Wi-Fi, and used Google translate. We were saved!! We quickly got connected to our tour guide using the shop’s phone and she gracefully guided us to the nearby bus station to Florence our final destination on the tour. In less than an hour we were on our way to our hotel, safe and happy

Largest Island of Greece | CRETE (Guest Series: 16)

Hey there friends and fellow travel lovers! Welcome to my story of exploring Crete! It all happened a few summers ago, when my friends and I decided to take a trip along the coastline of the island of Crete. It is the largest island of Greece and the Aegean sea and it's famous for its rich history, fascinating culture and beautiful beaches. I am a Greek myself, so it's really special for me to be able to share a little part of my home with you. I hope you enjoy it! So the first day we decided to take a day trip to a village mainland called Anogeia (Ανώγεια). It's a very cute and traditional village, with residents staying there the whole year! These are mostly Cretans who have lived there their whole life and continue to uphold the customs and traditions of the place. As you can see in the photo, they gave me a traditional Cretan "sariki" to wear on my head. It's a hand made lace head turban of sorts, worn by both men and women. Although men usually prefer the
